Astley Wong Kok Kheong, my mentor, my brother, my friend.
We were introduced in 2005 when he just joined ANL. He's full of talents, showcased his videography and shared his experiences with National Geographic and United Nations projects. He was very 'raw' at that time, being new in ANL, i would always help him through with all his paper work and English. His strong Malaysian slang was to say 'I do..' instead of 'I can..' which i will always make fun of him till he change.
Our passion and desire for videography brought us closer. We can be so engross in all the video effects and he's ever willing to teach and guide you. It doesn't matter that we can stay in office and work till the next day. Soon, he says i'm the first to call him 'Da Ge'. And i'm proud to do so. He's really like a god brother to me. Whenever i need help he's always there, whether or not it's work related or just plain chores. We are very open to each other and share our thoughts and aspiration. I remember when he's down he'll call me up after the long working and share his woes at the curry store at jurong east. And he really treats me like a sister, once i was very sick with flu and weak to move, he was so worried he went to buy whole bag of groceries from the express NTUC outlet oppo his home. Even though it's instant porridge and can food. It really really touches my heart..
His encouragement and committment for work earns all my respect for him. He fights for my welfare and appraisal, and hopes to see me stay in office to help him out with the videography. At that time, PET team was not form, but he told me of his intention to do so because of the many start up media studio plans. My only regret was not to insist to stay in office to help him in the evolution of PET team but to move on with Yuk's encouragement to Crescent Girls. But i know Mathathir is supporting by his side.
He encourages me not to give up when I had failed again and again to get through TP for my bike. With every failure, he'll motivate me with something to keep me going.
"I'm waiting for you to catch up my bike."
When i finally passed, the first person i called was him. And he rode me around to find the ideal bike. He gave valuable advices for a rookie like me. My liking for biking was re-ignited by his every word. Together with Mahathir, TZM and other fellow ANL bikers we aim to form the ANL bike club. And that's how we came about the group name for our future production team motion45.A freelance video production team in Singapore called motion45. Why motion45? He says it's because of the 45 degress angle that bikers can do during racing.
We never had a chance to fulfilled it.
When i moved on to Crescent, both of us were drifted apart from work. New members joined, PET team was formed. He keeps confusing Jane and Jean, Ashlynn and Astley, and have difficulty prononcuing Shu Lay's name and one of our close friend Kay he'll pronounced it as 'Kia'. Astley started to be so engrossed in his work, piled up day by day, competitions, projects, paperwork. Everyone ins ANL will know he treats it like his 2nd home often staying over night. I would go over some nights to catch up a bit. I know he is tired but his delication for work and now finally seeing results he motivates himself to move on. I'm happy for him for his progress in ANL. He never thought he'll move and settle down fast in Singapore over his ordeal with his past wife in Malaysia. Still, fatigue can be seen on his face..
The last time we went for a holiday was last year to KL. He brought me to tour Putra Jaya and KL central. He loves the Malaysian Chicken biscuits. We are suppose to plan for the next holiday to Redang.. Guess it's no more.
Astley told me he celebrated his happiest birthday this year. Together with PET team members, Admins, Sales, trainers, we make it a blast for him at riverside indonesia restaurant. I made him wear the storm trooper polo i designed for him and the whole gang bought the Nokia handphone which he has been eyeing. It very hard to get him to celebrate on the actual day as his mother passed away on the same day. He lives with his girlfriend in KL while his sister in ipoh. And he promised to bring me to his hometown in ipoh sometime....
How ironical. Cruel reality.
Just last month he carried the heavy tripod for me all over to my place so that i can be in time to do my assignment shoot. I wanted to pass him a t-shirt for the favour over dinner but do not have the chance to do so. Just last week he called me to borrow my Sony camera for boss to use and i wanted to call him to see when i could take it back. Now i could do so no more. Just the day before i had msg him...
Why must death be so sudden for a good man who did nothing bad.
I always end off my Good bye with reminding him to ride carefully.
Just like a General would die in war,Why must an avid biker like him end up his life with his bike.
Now fatigue has taken over him.
So he could rest now.
Tears just roll when i have to type out what seems to be a lifetime of memories.
I miss his silly dance with Black Machine's How Gee song
I miss his 'I do, I do..'
I miss his whinning up of the middle finger..
I miss the times we share in office
I miss the silly discussions on producing a 10 part comedy ANL office series..
I miss all his lectures..
I miss his 'sian wor..', 'ji dan gao..'
I miss all his gestures especially in photos..
I miss 2 volka shots knock down
I miss all the long night phone calls and whining about relationships..
I miss the late night MSN and showing off his Webcam from office..
I miss all his little little nonsensical talk..
I miss him.
I miss my lost brother.
"When will we ever get to chase cars again?"

It seems like a competition between the senior and the rookie.
The competition is on, senior with a group of sec 1s and the rookie with a group of 1s and 3s.
The rookie started organising and planning, prepared well for the final showdown yesterday.
The senior as usual had the last minute work and plans.
What was agreed before hand was the booking of 3 cabs to head down to the competition venue.
End up, when the rookie arrived at the foyer with the delicated group of girls, only to find out the senior had only booked a Maxi cab for her group.
"We have a lot of machinary and barang barang, perhaps one or two of your girls can join me and the rest can go flag a cab?"
*Unbelievable silence. WTH looks from students.
"Well, maybe you 2 girls go join her and bring your stuff up too?"
"Oh maybe can only one of you join, coz really too many things la. Or do you want me to help book a cab for you now?"
*... the rookie is pissed. Why call a cab now when you could have call me earlier to ask me if i have a lot of stuff or do i need to call a cab to. DAMN PISSED.
As if the rookie's team does not have many barang barang like that?
It is by luck that a parent had taken a cab in. Hence, the rest of the rookies' group do not have to go walk out with all their stuff to flag a cab.
The rookie's team did quite a good job, with elaborate decors, cosplays and items, the team showed effort.
The senior's team were young and ambitious, with instant prints of photoshoped Granado esapada character of your face grabs the judges attention. So does the National Education theme.
Perhaps that is why the rookie team didn't made it to the top 5.
Still the utmost reason was to give each school a chance and not to have the same 2 schools get into the top 5. Everyone to win something.
Saddening.
The rookie's team put in much effort in the powerpoint slides which were very much better in organisation, asthetics and theme as compared to the other top 5 teams.
Yet, they were not given chance to even present their specially prepared powerpoints.
Seeing the disappointment on their faces is a heart-wrenching sight.
So the senior team of young sec 1s and 2s got in first in place with each student a limited edition signatured Granado Espada game box, trophy, chimei 22'' LCD panel and $400 while the rookie got trophies for consolation, best booth and best video, Original OST and door knobs.
*yes, "limited edition door knobs".
How to get over the ordeal?
"At least we won more trophies."
Old ginger still are much spicy than young ones.

Yeah, Advertising down one more to go!
Journalism exam this friday.
The exam today was surprisingly 'easy' for one question. Too easy to be true.
Just draft a advertisement for a fast food and you're done.
Can take 15mins to complete a 45 mins, 25 marks question just like that.
So suspicious!! Felt like drafting out the CWP too but figured out that i didn't study much on that part.
Ah well, as least i struck lucky on the another 2 questions on Ethics and the Advertising Spiral.
The other question i choose was also like another give-away.
Critque on a Marina Mandarin Advertisement.
I hope Journalism this Friday will be good too.
'Cross-fingers'

Reading through Chapters of my Advertising notes.
I got bored.
Sleepy.
Still not fully recovered though, so to wake myself up, i went to conque the game while i've been trying to complete. (Seems impossible with a normal mouse and still tough for the tablet)

TA-DA!
I got so used to it after 'countless' tries that finally, i completed the stages! =)
*oh darn.. then it's back to studyin for my exams next monday and thurs.
